Whether you snagged your dream 70s split level in Happy Valley, a Cully ranch with a vintage bar in the basement, or a Mad Men worthy Rummer in the Oak Hills neighborhood of Beaverton, you are going to need some hip furniture to fill it with! Here are some of my favorite shops for MCM furniture, vintage housewares, and plants, plants, plants…

Midnight Sunlight .jpeg

Midnight Sunlight | 338 SE Martin Luther King Blvd. Portland | @midnightsunlightshop

Alaskan transplant and owner of Midnight Sunlight, Sunny Preston, scours the west coast for mid century finds with her cat, Fitz, in tow! Inside you will find original contemporary art, light fixtures galore and even sofas large enough for a sunken conversation pit--a signature design element of the Mad Men era. Each item is hand-selected and thoughtfully presented.

The Good Mod | 1313 West Burnside St, 4th Fl. | @thegoodmod

Founded by Spencer Staley in 2006, the 20,000 square-foot loft hosts a sprawling showroom and workshop of mid century furniture. A multi-disciplinary team fulfills custom restoration, design-build, and upholstery projects.

Vintage Pink | 2500 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland | @vintagepinkpdx

In the heart of the east side of Portland is the 6,000 square foot emporium, Vintage Pink, full of MCM delights plus Danish modern, industrial, and retro furniture plus plenty of kitchy decor.

Artifact Creative Recycle | 3630 SE Division St., Portland | @artifactpdx

An eclectic clothing and furnishing store. Most recently I have snagged a marble mortar and pestle ($5) and some brass candle holders ($12) and I keep an eye on the oil paintings.

Reclaim It! | 1 N. Killingworth St., Portland | @reclaimitpdx

ReClaim It! is an arts and reuse nonprofit organization that always has the coolest upcycled finds. Since 2014, the nonprofit has saved more than 55,000 pounds of reusable materials from going to the dump. Most recently, I purchased a beautiful vintage brass bell to mount on the wall of my kitchen.

The Rebuilding Center | 3625 N. Mississippi Ave, Portland | @rebuildingcenter

Looking for a box of tile? A heat register vent? An outlet cover? Maybe some old cabinets for basement ADU? The Rebuilding Center is the place for all of these bits and bobs that one needs for a home. They also offer super helpful homeowner classes on everything from woodworking to beginner electrical. And if you find yourself with some vintage windows or door knobs that you don’t want any more, The Rebuilding Center will take your donations, too.

EcoVibe | 1906 NE Alberta St., Portland | @ecovibestyle

Do you need some ferns to deck out that pink bathroom with? Do you love supporting Black women owned businesses? Then, EcoVibe is your plant lady paradise in the Alberta neighborhood. Go scoop up all the pothos and philodendron!

Pistils | 3811 N. Mississippi Ave., Portland | @pistilsnursery

A specialty plant shop on the uber trendy Mississippi Avenue. Their greenhouse is a plant lovers dream room.

Flower Bomb | 2857 SE Stark St, Portland | @flowerbombpdx

Combination plant haven and florist, this is my go to shop when I want to pick up a beautiful arrangement before a dinner party or if I want to treat myself on a special occasion. Their current store is on SE Stark St. but rumor has it a move to SE Division is in the works.

If you are still hunting for your MCM dream house in the Portland Metro area or looking to stage a modern home for a swift sale, I would be happy to help you. Let’s schedule a consultation and get started!
